12 Essential Business Skills For Any Business
Every believer Business Owner should strive for excellence in their work and business. The foundation for becoming excellent is skill development. The Proverbs tell us that a person of excellence will be recognized. "Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men.
I've discovered 12 essential business skills that will make your business distinct. A little extra effort is the difference between average and exceptional. You don't have to be perfect in all these skills but any effort to grow and develop will set you apart from others in your field.
Although all these skills should be in your business, you personally do not have to be the one who possesses them. You can hire or outsource skills that you don't have, but you must be the one who oversees to make sure the excellence is there. You can outsource skills but you cannot outsource the final accountability.
The 12 skills are:
1. The ability to manage time. This is the same as the ability to manage yourself.
2. The ability to manage numbers. Knowing what numbers to watch and how to accurately keep track of them is important, but strive to keep it simple.
3. The ability to set things in order through systems and checklists.
4. The ability to maintain the right mindsets in all situation. Being able to take our thoughts captive and keep our attitudes in check is vital.
5. The ability to attract customers.
6. The ability to keep customers.
7. The ability to provide products and services that people are willing to pay for.
8. The ability to strategize. Being able to see the big picture and map out a way to reach the end result is a key foundational skill. You must be proactive not reactive.
9. The ability to focus and concentrate.
10. The ability to train be trained. The ability to learn and to teach.
11. The ability to shepherd and nurture relationships.
12. The ability to communicate with empathy.
